(May 12, 2021) The Riggs Motorsports team and driver Tanner English ventured north to LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on May 7-8 for a pair of MARS Racing Series shootouts that made up the annual 'Thaw Brawl' weekend. On Friday night in the $3,000 to win opener, Tanner earned Fast Time honors in qualifying with his quick lap of 12.646 seconds around the 1/4-mile oval before securing a victory in heat race action. After starting the 30-lapper from the pole position and leading the first couple of circuits, Tanner settled for a strong third place podium effort behind only race winner Ryan Unzicker and runner-up Brian Shirley. At LaSalle on Saturday evening, a whopping $12,000 payday was on the line for the MARS competitors in the 'Thaw Brawl' finale. Tanner once again picked up a victory in his heat race to earn the pole position for the 60-lap headliner. The Benton, Kentucky ace then battled hard for the lead early in the contest before slipping to third, as rain saturated the racing surface through much of the distance. At the checkers, Tanner was awarded another third place performance behind only victor Garrett Alberson and runner-up Brian Shirley. The #81e team will jump right back into competition later tonight, May 12 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. The Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series will roll into the 1/4-mile fairgrounds facility to preside over a $10,000 to win midweek special. From there, Tanner will set his sights on Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois over the upcoming May 14-15 weekend. The MARS Racing Series will sanction all of the action in the Land of Lincoln and a $10,000 top prize will be up for grabs on Friday at Farmer City, while Saturday's showdown at FALS boasts a $15,000 windfall.
